Filters and Paths
A step lets a carry on only when a condition is true. Examples are "email does not contain test" or "amount greater than 100". split a Zap into branches, each with its own rules and steps.
So one Zap can treat new customers, returning customers and everyone else differently. Zapier's pricing page lists filters and Paths as not counting as , its billing unit, which makes filtering early good practice. Paths can sit inside other Paths, but deep nesting becomes hard to maintain.
Common trapbranch rules that overlap, so one record runs down two paths, or that leave a gap, so some records silently go nowhere.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 2 cheat sheet entries come with the full roadmap. Unlock
