Stage 3 of 7 · 6 lessons · ~1 week
Understand before you argue
The people who change their family's mind are usually the ones who listened first. This stage is about listening on purpose, finding the goal you share, and getting clear on what you want and what you will accept.
Start: Listen to understand, not to replyLessons· one lesson for each topic, in this order
Do this
- Have one conversation where you only ask questions and reflect back
- Write the goal you and your parents share in one sentence
- Answer honestly: would you still want this path if they agreed tomorrow?
- Start one small experiment that tests your interest in the new path
- Write at most three non-negotiables, three flexible points and three things you can offer

Before moving on: One calm listening conversation done, a shared goal written in one sentence, one small experiment started, and your lists of non-negotiables, flexible points and things you can offer.

Listening first is not weakness. It is the fastest way to be heard back. And test your path before you defend it: two months of real effort is the strongest argument you will ever bring to your parents.
