Stage 7 · Lesson 3 of 7
Breaks and movement
Short breaks during focused work help you keep going. Stand up, stretch, look out of a window, drink water or walk for a few minutes. Movement in particular helps: regular physical activity is linked to better mood, sleep and concentration, and even a ten-minute walk can clear your head.
Breaks work best when they are different from the work: if you have been staring at a screen, a break on your phone gives your eyes and mind no rest. Plan longer breaks for meals and a walk or exercise most days. If you study at home, a short walk outside can also mark the change between study and the rest of your day.
Common trapskipping breaks to save time and then losing an hour to tired scrolling instead.
