Stage 7 · Lesson 4 of 7
Notice burnout early
The World Health Organization describes burnout as a result of chronic work stress that has not been managed well, with three features: exhaustion, feeling distant or cynical about your work, and feeling less effective. Students can experience something similar during long periods of study pressure.
Early signs include dreading everything, being tired even after rest, getting sick more often, losing interest in things you usually enjoy and feeling that nothing you do matters. More productivity tools will not fix this; what helps is reducing the load, real rest and support.
Talk to someone you trust. If low mood lasts for weeks or you feel hopeless, see a doctor or counsellor and read /roadmaps/mental-health/.
Common trappushing harder when the signs appear.
