Handling rejection and setbacks

Stage 4 · Lesson 3 of 7

Internship and job rejections

An application goes through stages: applied, first reply, first call or test, later rounds, offer. Each stage has its own fix. Few replies at all usually means the CV, the roles you target or how you apply (referrals beat cold portals).

Replies but failed tests means skills or practice. Reaching final rounds and stopping there often means how you explain your work, or bad luck in a close race. Sefism's Job search roadmap at /roadmaps/job-search/ walks through each stage.

Common trapfixing the wrong stage: rewriting your CV for the tenth time when your CV is getting replies and the problem is later.
