Stage 3 · Lesson 3 of 6
Build things together
Working on something together is one of the fastest ways to build both skills and friendships. Join a hackathon, a university society project, an open source issue, a competition team or a small side project with classmates. You learn how others think, share the hard parts and celebrate the wins.
People you build with often become your first professional network: they refer you, recommend you and start companies with you years later. Start small: a weekend hackathon or a two-week project.
Common trapwaiting until you feel skilled enough to join. Teams need beginners too, and you will learn more in one weekend of building with others than in weeks alone.
