Your profile as a landing page
Rebuild your LinkedIn profile so a stranger knows what you do, who you help and what to do next within seconds. Your GitHub profile and portfolio should repeat the same message.
Start: HeadlineLessons· one lesson for each topic, in this order
Do this
- Rewrite your headline as role + niche + proof, in the words recruiters search for, for example "Backend engineer | Payments APIs | Cut checkout latency by 40%".
- Design a banner in Canva that states what you do, who it is for and one call to action.
- Write your About section as the problem you solve, why it hurts, and how you solve it, ending with how to reach you.
- Rewrite each role as a short story with results and numbers, not a list of duties.
- Set your Featured section and profile link to repeat your core message: your best project, post or portfolio.
- Update skills to match your target role, and endorse people whose work you actually know.
- Use a clear, well-lit photo and a custom profile URL, and write a GitHub profile README with the same message.
- Check the whole profile on your phone, since most people will see it there first.

Headline, keywords, summary, recommendations and featured work, section by section
Before moving on: Show your updated profile to 2 people on a phone for 10 seconds; both can say back what you do and who you help, and your GitHub profile README says the same thing.

Treat your profile like a landing page: someone should understand what you do within five seconds, on a phone. Repeat one core message across the headline, banner, featured section and link instead of listing everything you have ever touched.
