Stage 3 · Lesson 1 of 7
Exam anxiety and preparation
Some nerves before an exam are normal and can help. Exam anxiety becomes a problem when it stops you studying, blanks your mind in the hall, or keeps you awake for days before. The most reliable thing that reduces it is preparation you can trust: spreading revision over weeks instead of cramming, testing yourself with past papers instead of rereading notes, and short breaks.
Knowing you have practised under exam conditions makes the real thing feel familiar. Plan your revision backwards from the exam date, and include sleep and rest in the plan. In South Asia, where entrance exams and board results can feel like they decide everything, this matters even more.
Common trapall-night cramming, which feels productive but harms memory and makes anxiety worse.
